Welcome back to school! As we began a new school year, the school age 3 children showed excitement and curiosity as they reconnected with their friends, educators, and classroom environment. Through our “Get to Know Me” activities, the children had opportunities to share their interests, favourite things, ideas, and experiences with one another. These experiences supported the children in building relationships, developing a sense of belonging, and becoming comfortable in our classroom community.
During our outdoor explorations, the children became nature detectives, eagerly investigating the world around them. They searched for rocks, insects, bugs, mud, and butterflies, carefully observing and sharing their discoveries with friends and educators. The children examined rocks by noticing their different shapes, sizes, colours, and textures, and they were fascinated by the insects and bugs they found. When butterflies appeared, the children excitedly followed them, noticing their delicate wings and beautiful colours. Mud also became an invitation for hands-on exploration as the children touched, scooped, mixed, and experimented with its texture and consistency. Through these experiences, the children asked questions, shared ideas, made observations, and used their senses to make meaning of the world around them.
